Nostra Signora della Vittoria Sanctuary
Every evening at 7pm bell tower’s tolls to honour the fallen of First World War.
The Sanctuary Nostra Signora della Vittoria is located in Lecco’s center, nearby Alessandro Manzoni square and it’s dedicated to the fallen of the First World War, whose crypt is reserved to.
Neo-Romanesque style for this Sanctuary, characterized by alternate stripes of the white stone of Val Chiavenna and granite. Its bell tower is 61 meters tall and on its top there is an iron cross and also has parts of the precious remains of the Real Cross, surrounded by scrolls hosting the signatures of more than one thousand Lecco’s citizens.
The unique bell rings just once a day at 7pm to honor Lecco’s war fallen.
Nostra Signora della Vittoria Sanctuary was blessed by Cardinal Schuster in 1932.
It hosts some interesting artworks dated back to 16th century, such as the painting of Madonna delle Grazie, a Crucifixion, four scenes about Jesus’ Passion and four Prophets.
