Here you are Abegg Silk Museum in Garlate.
Abegg Silk Museum in Garlate is placed on Adda’s shore when the river is larger and is called lago di Olginate and it is both in the Regional Park of Monte Barro and North Adda Park. Its name is due to its ancient owner, Abegg’s family.
The museum has been recently restored and offer to visitors a new way to discover the history of the silkworms breeding and the successive manufacturing process of silk. It has multimedia devices and interactive laboratories so it’s easier getting in touch with this world.
It hosts a rich collection of machineries showing you the different phases of silk production and manufacturing.
You can also discover the new researches and applications about silk in the biomedical, cosmetic fields and for the production of new yarns.
Abegg Silk Museum is on the cycle path n.9 and represents a beautiful pedestrian and cycle path.
