Hiking tour to San Pietro al Monte: loving Romanesque
Daily intimate experience among culture, nature, faith and local cuisine
Once upon a time… we can tell it as if it were a fairy tale, but this is a true story.
In the 14th century Pope Boniface VII announced the first Jubilee of the Catholic Church and the pilgrims went to visit the Basilica of San Pietro al Monte in Civate. Tired for the journey they stopped to have a break at the Casa del Pellegrino, before facing the last part of their pilgrimage travel.
We are going to relive the experience of the ancient pilgrims, sharing the great beauty of the Romanesque architectural complex, enjoying the peace of the place that seems to be suspended during time. A chest of art treasures inside and a wild nature all around with a stunning view of Lakes Briantei.
Only difference between us and the pilgrims? We are so lucky to taste a delicious lunch with typical local courses at a Crotto.
