A quirk round shape characterizes the smallest of Lakes Briantei. Here you are lake Montorfano.
Lake Montorfano is the last of lakes Briantei coming from Lecco to Como and the smallest one too.
It is placed in the Natural Reserve of lake Montorfano and has a particular round shape.
You can discover Lake Montorfano walking around it on the perimeter path and then enter into woods, rich of many botanical species. this is a typical landscape of moorland, rich of clay, with lots of heathers that in autumn create a beautiful pink floor.
Woods are composed by chestnuts, birches, hazel trees, white hornbeams and in high areas you can find also woodland pines.
Interesting note – Lake Montorfano represents an historical site in fact on its eastern shore an ancient pile-dwelling human settlement dated back to the bronze age (approx. 3.000 -3,500 years ago) was found.
