Itinerary description
The path is quite steep but fresh, because it runs in the woods, we suggest during summer time to take it early in the morning to stay cool due to the not high difference in altitude.
You can park at the Municipality or in Pozzo district. In both areas you’ll find the proper signs for San Pietro al Monte. You firstly walk on asphalt and after few minutes you are on the mule track.
You walk along the Valle dell’Oro, which offers you views on Lake Annone, Mountain Cornizzolo and Corno Birone. If you look at north/west you can see the unforgettable Resegone mountain and Barro mountain.
The path alternates easy parts to hard ones, especially in the last part, but the path is accessible to all, kids included.
San Pietro al Monte is especially recommended for families thanks to its wide plain where kids can play.
You cannot miss to visit the Basilica, a real gem of Romanesque in Italy.
