San Gerolamo and l’Innominato (the Unnamed) in Somasca of Vercurago, without forgetting the lake promenade with a new cycle path.
Vercurago reflects itself into Adda, where the river widens forming the Lake Garlate and lays in the green San Martino Valley.
It extends vertically up the slopes of the mountain to a hill known as Somasca, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake and the mountains of the Alpine ranges. Vercurago is famous for two other religious and cultural reasons: the Shrine of ST. Jerome Emiliano (Santuario di San Gerolamo Emiliani) attracting many devotes and the castle of the Unnamed (castello dell’Innonimato) described by Alessandro Manzoni San Gerolamo founded the Congregation of Somaschi dedicated to orphans’ care and the Shrine of San Gerolamo is the destination of many pilgrimages, who arrive here to walk along the Chapels’ path and the Saint Stairway.
Arrived at the top, along the same path, you firstly reach the hermitage and then continuing walking the rock where the ruins of the Unnamed’s castle are.
Vercurago is awaiting to open you different ways to discover and experience it: history, faith and culture and relax on the lake’s shore thanks to beaches and cycle path connecting Vercurago to Calolziocorte, Olginate and Lecco.
