Discover the Cadorna Line in Valvarrone with a video. The defense systems projected and built at the beginning of the twentieth century.
Valvarrone takes its name from the creek (Varro) that, arising from Valsassina runs through the valley to flow into Lake Como in Dervio, embraced by Legnone and Legnoncino.
This valley begins at the highest village of Valsassina: Premana.
Valvarrone offers a rich natural setting in terms of vegetation and wildlife, open landscapes and unique views over Lake Como and the Alps.
But Valvarrone, that offers a variety of excursions and is crossed by the wayfarer’s trail, encloses a historical heritage of great importance dated back to the early twentieth century: the Cadorna Line or Northern Border, the defense system designed and built to protect the Italian territory from potential attacks from across the Alps.
In this defensive system we find Forte Montecchio Nord with its cannons to defend the territory.
Let’s find out Valvarrone with its Cadorna lines in this video.
