Discovering Varenna on Lake Como in a day!
Varenna is a small village overlooking Lake Como, on the eastern shore of “that branch of Lake Como“ of Manzonian memory. Have you ever heard about The Betrothed, the first novel of the Italian literature by Alessandro Manzoni?
Varenna is just on this side of Lario and it’s in front the promontory of Bellagio, dividing the lake into two branches.
We can say with absolute certainty that Varenna has no less charm than the facing Bellagio. Smaller and more concentrated is its historical center, we recommend you to visit Varenna starting from Piazza San Giorgio, that once was the ancient Roman forum.
From here walk along the streets and steps leading you to the lakefront, where you can enjoy a drink or a meal in total relaxation admiring the Lake Como surrounded by the mountains.
Don’t miss to have a stroll on the Walk of Lovers: you’ll love it and reach the Ferry Terminal. Here have a look at the timetable if you like to go on discovery of other destinations on Lake Como.
Are you ready to discover Varenna? Let’s enjoy the video and then… schedule your trip or holiday here!!!
