When we talk about Lierna<\/strong>\u00a0at once we think of its spectacular beach of Riva Bianca<\/a><\/strong>, a white tongue with a unique landscape to live and admire. Next to\u00a0Riva Bianca we find the tower of the castle of Lierna<\/strong>, built in the Romanesque period, and challenged\u00a0by\u00a0Milan<\/strong><\/a> and Como<\/strong><\/a> in the communal period. The Lombard Queen Teodolinda<\/strong> stayed there for a long time. This hamlet\u00a0of Lierna tells us its\u00a0past medieval village: the internal streets have remained unchanged over time, as well as some of the facades of the houses. You breathe something special while walking here. Walking in this\u00a0hamlet\u00a0we find the church dedicated to Saints Maurice and Lazarus<\/strong>, which hosts inside\u00a0frescoes of the fifteenth century. This small church has ancient origins, in fact was erected in ancient Rome and has a peculiarity: its apse faces lake Como\u00a0as a protective stronghold\u00a0and the access is within the castle walls. It was used to carry out religious functions also under siege. But Lierna is not only the hamlet on lakefront, it is crossed by woods on the hill along which runs the Wayfarer’s trail<\/a><\/strong>, which connects Lecco<\/a><\/strong> with Colico<\/a><\/strong>.
